The person you are calling not only needs to be online they need to be running the same Internet phone software you are.The sound quality of your call is dependent on your connection speed and the other person's connection speed. If the connection is slow or there is a lot of traffic at just one end it may be impossible to hold a conversation.

On the other hand when you use services that allow you to initiate your call from your PC but call standard telephones you are the only one that needs a special setup. Typically your connection will be the only limiting factor since the service provider will be using high speed connections at their end.

Gardening - How and When to Prune Roses

Pruning rose bushes is intimidating to many gardeners, but actually very good for the plants. Becoming an accomplished rose pruner takes time and practice, but keep in mind that it is very hard to kill a rose with bad pruning. The most commonly recognized case of this is parents with young children. However, it can also apply to couples in which the survivor would be financially stricken by the income lost through the death of a partner, and to dependent adults, such as parents, siblings or adult children who continue to rely on you financially. Insurance to replace your income can be especially useful if the government- or employer-sponsored benefits of your surviving spouse or domestic partner will be reduced after your death.

Some types of life insurance create a cash value that, if not paid out as a death benefit, can be borrowed or withdrawn on the owner’s request. Since most people make paying their life insurance policy premiums a high priority, buying a cash-value type policy can create a kind of “forced” savings plan.

Prepare your car for a road trip - Cars ....

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5169311906121131010" style="FLOAT: right; Old books require more of this care and repair than new books, so we’ll concentrate in that area.

You can find most of these products in your own home or through Brodart.

Try using a hair dryer. It can be effective in removing price tags or anything that is glued to paper. Set it on low-heat. And if your book gets wet, the hair dryer can be a valuable emergency tool for drying. Some find it effective on beginning mildew.

Vaseline is petrolatum, (petroleum jelly), and it can be useful. A dab of it on a soft, clean cloth can often get rid of smudges on dust jackets. Wipe it on, then wipe it off with a cleaning agent like a document cleaning pad. Bookseller folklore has many household products for book care, such as nail polish remover and lighter fluid, but as a rule they are not worth the inconvenience.

Online Education and Degrees

All traditional and online colleges and universities offering accredited online degrees and on-campus programs are accredited by accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Check it our google search with the text of "Online Degrees"...

Immigration Tips 4 U......

These are the Ten Commandments of Successful Immigration:

1. If nothing else, you will want to know that the rates, fees and services at your existing bank are at least comparable to what is out there in the marketplace. You will receive more satisfaction from your bank when you know the people there and the services they can provide. Every relationship has its ups and downs, but with a little effort, you might just feel more at home with your bank.

More will be in next post .... regarding NRI, NRO and Other Bank Accounts...

Healthy Tips for Health...

1. Move More
Make it a daily challenge to find ways to move your body. Climb stairs if given a choice between that and escalators or elevators. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Anything that moves your limbs is not only a fitness tool, it's a stress buster. Think 'move' in small increments of time. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym or a 45-minute aerobic dance class or tai chi or kickboxing. But that's great when you're up to it. Meanwhile, move more. Thought for the day: Cha, Cha, Cha…. Then do it!

2. Cut
FatAvoid the obvious such as fried foods, burgers and other fatty meats (i.e. pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage). Dairy products such as cheese, cottage cheese, milk and cream should be eaten in low fat versions. Nuts and sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited amounts. Most are available in lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise. Thought for the day: Lean, mean, fat-burning machine…. Then be one!

3. Quit Smoking
The jury is definitely in on this verdict. Ever since 1960 when the Surgeon General announced that smoking was harmful to your health, Americans have been reducing their use of tobacco products that kill. Just recently, we've seen a surge in smoking in adolescents and teens. Could it be the Hollywood influence? It seems the stars in every movie of late smoke cigarettes. Beware. Warn your children of the false romance or 'tough guy' stance of Hollywood smokers. Thought for the day: Give up just one cigarette…. the next one.

4. Reduce Stress
Easier said than done, stress busters come in many forms. Some techniques recommended by experts are to think positive thoughts. Spend 30 minutes a day doing something you like. (i.e.,Soak in a hot tub; walk on the beach or in a park; read a good book; visit a friend; play with your dog; listen to soothing music; watch a funny movie. Get a massage, a facial or a haircut. Meditate. Count to ten before losing your temper or getting aggravated. Avoid difficult people when possible. Thought for the day: When seeing red, think pink clouds….then float on them.

5. Protect Yourself from Pollution
If you can't live in a smog-free environment, at least avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing in highway fumes and exercising near busy thoroughfares. Exercise outside when the smog rating is low. Exercise indoors in air conditioning when air quality is good. Plant lots of shrubbery in your yard. It's a good pollution and dirt from the street deterrent. Thought for the day: 'Smoke gets in your eyes'…and your mouth, and your nose and your lungs as do pollutants….hum the tune daily.

6. Wear Your Seat Belt
Statistics show that seat belts add to longevity and help alleviate potential injuries in car crashes. Thought for the day: Buckle down and buckle up.

7. Floss Your Teeth
Recent studies make a direct connection between longevity and teeth flossing. Nobody knows exactly why. Perhaps it's because people who floss tend to be more health conscious than people who don't? Thought for the day: Floss and be your body's boss.

8. Avoid Excessive Drinking
While recent studies show a glass of wine or one drink a day (two for men) can help protect against heart disease, more than that can cause other health problems such as liver and kidney disease and cancer. Thought for the day: A jug of wine should last a long time.

9. Keep a Positive Mental Outlook
There's a definitive connection between living well and healthfully and having a cheerful outlook on life. Thought for the day: You can't be unhappy when you're smiling or singing.

10. Choose Your Parents
Well The link between genetics and health is a powerful one. But just because one or both of your parents died young in ill health doesn't mean you cannot counteract the genetic pool handed you. Thought for the day: Follow these basic tips for healthy living and you can better control your own destiny.

Beauty Tips For Eyebrows ...

Your eyebrows add strength and definition to your face. Well groomed eyebrows enhance your beauty.

You should pluck eyebrows before bedtime so any redness will disappear overnight. In shaping your eyebrows use your facial features.

Use a pair of slant edge tweezers which grip hairs easily. Comb hairs one way and then the other to remove loose hairs.

You should pluck hairs between the brows and any stragglers. Never remove the hairs from above your eyebrows.

Pluck each hair individually close to the root. Work in the direction of the growth.
Always avoid over plucking. In defining your eyebrows choose a shade similar to your natural hair colour.

When using a pencil you should apply in small, feathered strokes. Starting at the inner corner work outwards. Blend the colour with a brush. To tame stray hairs just use hair gel and comb through to neaten.

Beauty Tips .... If you have oily skin all over your face, use a cleanser that contains benzoil peroxide or salicylic acid. Don't scrub - irritated skin swells around the pores, which can cause breakouts. Skip toner unless your face is very oily, otherwise it might dry out the skin.
TREAT!

Apply a topical acne treatment containing benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acid, or salicylic acid over your entire face, not just where blemishes have already erupted. At night, use a drying spot-treatment product and dab oil-free moisturizer on dry areas. In the morning, apply an oil-free sunscreen gel over the entire face.

CONCEAL!

Use a small makeup brush to dab concealer or cream foundation (in the exact same shade as your skin) directly onto the blemish. Pregnancy Tips ...

As much time as most women spend trying to keep from getting pregnant throughout their lives, it sometimes seems that for any woman who is sexually active, pregnancy is the default condition.

Pregnancy sneaks up on millions of women every month: pregnancy has been known to occur during one’s period, while still nursing an infant, when a partner has had a vasectomy, and when women are on the Pill. Hormones, sponges, creams, foams and various latex and non-latex products have been pressed into use by women who aren’t at a stage in life where they want children. It’s only when we start wanting to have children that we learn that pregnancy sometimes takes as much planning as childlessness did before.

It may be that the hectic nature of daily life has changed considerably from the time when, eons ago, all you needed was enough to eat and enough shelter to keep alive.
In fact, the nature of nature is to make us as fertile as possible under a wide variety of circumstances. But our bodies are still trying to adapt to the environment we’ve built, where things like jet lag, hot tubs and plain old fatigue can affect whether we can become pregnant. The human body, while amazingly adaptable, is only willing to go so far: getting pregnant is often a matter of helping things along by working in a planful way to bring ovulation, active sperm, and a welcoming environment conducive to implantation together at the same time.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gud4all.blogspot.com/2008/02/getting-pregnant-pregnancy-tips.html' title='Getting Pregnant ... A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call.

Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency).

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose.

In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.

A great idea that will make a difference!

JOBS...........

Lot of jobsite are available... In this regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from the vendor. Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded alpha numerically as A or B or C or D followed by some two digit number. E.g., C09.

The alphabets stand for quarters -

A for March (First Qtr)

B for June (Second Qtr)

C for Sept (Third Qtr)

D for December (Fourth Qtr)

The two digits stand for the year till it is valid.

Hence C09 would mean Sep 2009.

Please do not accept the cylinder if the date has already expired.

"A" stands for the first quarter ie January to March and "07" stands for the present year 2007. A-07 indicates the expiry life of cylinder and not the GAS filled in it. This cylinder should not be used and returned to the gas dealer.

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents.

CHECK THE CYLINDERS AT YOUR HOME TODAY ITSELF.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gud4all.blogspot.com/2008/02/expiry-date-pls-check.html' title='EXPIRY DATE - PLS. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

2 Minutes Drill - Job Interview ....

Appearance counts. When you look good, you feel good. Make sure you look groomed and neat. If you were a book, would someone want to read more?

Your clothes and accessories should be conservative and neutral, rather than wild and loud. Your clothes are your packaging and should not take attention away from the product.

Nonverbal communication sometimes conveys a stronger message than verbal communication. When you slouch, whether sitting or standing, you're saying volumes about you and your confidence level. Sit up straight -- like your mother always told you to. When you stand, make yourself as tall as possible: shoulders back and head held high.

Eye contact and smiles can indicate a confident and upbeat attitude. You will notice that many job postings ask for enthusiasm and energy. This is a good opportunity to demonstrate your social and interpersonal skills as well as your excitement about the opportunity for which you're interviewing.

The handshake sends a strong tactile message. Whether your hands are hot and sweaty or cold and clammy, you can try some tricks to control the temperature. To cool your hands, try running cold water on the insides of your wrists. Use hot water if your hands are cool. If you have particularly sweaty hands, try using a deodorant gel (antiperspirant) as a lotion.

Your voice and the volume of your speech convey a strong impression. Whether the interview's over the phone or face-to-face, you should speak with enthusiasm and energy. Use a firm voice to demonstrate your confidence.

Your vocabulary reveals your communication skills and ability to interact with people, especially ones you've not met before. The words you choose will say something about you, as well as your knowledge of the industry. It is important to use "their" words and talk "their" talk.

Smile a moment................

Friend 1 : My grandpa said, eating 1 garlic everyday will let you livehealthy for 100 years

Friend 2 : Is it so ?

Friend 1: He ate, but he expired in his 40's due to fate ! Thisis why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking. If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in themarket, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles areoily.

This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour toprevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold waterbefore cooking them in hot water again.

This process is repeatedseveral times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cookingand rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together. The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent thenoodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cookinginstructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in thewater when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from stickingtogether. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti! There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time ofhis career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodleseveryday.

He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax ininstant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after movingout from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ateinstant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since diedfrom it.

Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as "cancer noodles ".

DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH

It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after wakingup every morning.
